Launch a career in justice with the Correctional Officer & Juvenile Counsellor Training Program through Manitoba Justice in partnership with The Pas Métis Employment & Training (MET).
This free, 8-week program trains Red River Métis Citizens with the essential skills and certifications needed for meaningful work in corrections. Eligible participants may receive up to $2,800 in stipend support during training.

Program Highlights:
- Pay Range: $31.62 - $40.65/hour (upon successful hire)
- Duration: 8 weeks, full-time (Monday-Friday)
- Location: The Pas Correctional Centre
- Includes: Correctional procedures, conflict resolution, cultural awareness, CPR/First Aid, and more
- Stipend: Up to $2,800 available for eligible participants
Eligibility:
- Red River Métis Citizen, age 18+, from The Pas Region
- Unemployed or underemployed
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physically and mentally prepared to work in a demanding environment
- Commitment to an employment and training plan
Mandatory Before Training:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks
- Enhanced Security Screening (Level 4)
- Medical Fitness Report
- Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED Certification
- Full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's License
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Teamwork and stress management
- Effective communication and judgment
- Ability to adapt and work with diverse populations
- Written and verbal communication skills
Desired:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Commitment to lifelong learning
- Experience with Indigenous communities and cultural understanding
