Anticipated Start: November 2025 (6 weeks) • Location: Dauphin, Manitoba

About the HEO Program

We are gathering expressions of interest from Red River Métis Citizens in the Northwest Region who are committed to a career in Heavy Equipment Operation. This proposed 6-week program in Dauphin, MB offers hands-on training with industry equipment, builds safety knowledge, and prepares applicants seeking full-time employment in construction and heavy industry sectors. Training focuses on fundamentals such as equipment, controls, trenching, loading, worksite communications, and daily maintenance.

  • Duration: 6 weeks (anticipated November start)
  • Location: Dauphin, MB
  • Format: Blend of field operations & classroom safety
  • Financial Assistance: May be available for eligible participants

Equipment Training Includes:

Excavator Wheel Loader Dozer Grader Loader Backhoe Articulated Rock Truck Skid Steer

(Final equipment mix and schedule may vary.)

Eligibility & Requirements

You'll need:

  • Minimum of Grade 9 or Mature Student
  • Available for full-time training
  • Interested in operating heavy equipment & actively seeking employment in the industry
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is an asset
  • Ability to follow verbal commands and hand signals
  • Unemployed or Underemployed Red River Métis Citizens (with proof of MMF Citizenship) in the MMF Northwest Region

Readiness & Conduct:

  • Fit for Duty: arrive alert and substance-free
  • Attendance: daily participation required
  • Professionalism: respectful behaviour
