Eligibility
✓ Red River Métis Citizen currently employed in a licensed Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Centre
✓ Interested in obtaining ECE Level II Certification, with proof of employment and employer support for the training program scheduling requirements
✓ Completed Manitoba Grade 12 (or equivalent), including English 40G or 40S with a minimum grade of 60%
How to Apply
Applications are submitted to Assiniboine College through the Métis Employment & Training (MET) Department.
Review the documents below, complete the required forms, and submit your package by April 27, 2026. There is no application fee for MET-sponsored participants.

Programs that are started before applying and receiving MET approval will not be eligible for support. Please contact MET before enrolling or submitting your application.

Permission Waiver Form
Allows Assiniboine College to share your attendance, grades, and account information with MET. Pre-filled and valid until November 30, 2027.
Complete Application Checklist
Program Application and Guide Required Completed, signed, and dated on the bottom of the second page. Contact MET before beginning - programs started before receiving MET approval will not be eligible for support.
Official High School Transcripts Required Must show English 40S or 40G with at least 60%. Unofficial transcripts are not accepted. Also include a copy for MET pre-screening.
Proof of Employment at an Early Learning and Child Care Centre Required An employment verification letter on official centre letterhead (or email with signature block) from your director or supervisor confirming your full name, start date, previous confirmation of clear criminal record (vulnerable sector) and child abuse registry checks, and employer support for the program's training schedule requirements.
Official Post-Secondary Transcripts If Applicable Submit official transcripts from any post-secondary institution attended.
Emergency First Aid with CPR C Certificate If Applicable If you already hold a valid certificate, submit a copy showing the expiry date. Assiniboine College will provide this training for students who do not have it.

Reach out to the MET team before beginning any coursework. Programs started without prior MET approval are not eligible for support.

Submit Your Application
Send your completed application, waiver, and all required documents to Assiniboine College by April 27, 2026.

Application Review & Enrollment
Assiniboine College will review your application. Additional documents may be requested if anything is missing. Successful applicants receive an acceptance letter. The new cohort is anticipated to begin May 25, 2026.
